Suzanne Truex earned her BA in Art from UT Austin, and her MA in Medical Illustration from UT Southwestern Medical School. She worked 25 years in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern, producing illustrations of intricate cranial procedures — including surgical approaches to aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), skull base tumors, and occasionally, spinal conditions. Her illustrations were featured in neurosurgical journal articles, textbooks, and presentations at medical conferences both domestically and abroad.

Since retiring, she works on her series Artifacts, creating detailed drawings of discarded metal objects found in city streets. Her digital artwork in her Light and Color series explores the interplay of neon hues and translucency.
