Munoz, Ben
About the Artist
Ben Muñoz’s practice utilizes monumental relief printmaking to build a vast, deeply personal mythology rooted in heritage, family, and the Chicano experience.
Based in Dallas, Texas, Muñoz carves grand-scale woodcuts and linocuts that transform everyday narratives of labor, cultural pride, and generational memory into epic visual testaments. His work in the gallery showcases exceptional graphic editions co-published and printed alongside the Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking.
Through dense, virtuosic linework and rich chiaroscuro rendering, Muñoz handles ink and wood as a site of profound storytelling. Towering stacks of objects, symbolic iconography of resistance, and monumental portraiture function as an ongoing architecture of self-location and humility. His imposing compositions challenge the boundaries of traditional relief art, balancing the heavy, grounding weight of personal history with an expansive sense of universal triumph.
