Matt Magee, 1961, is an American contemporary artist who has dedicated over four decades to exploring abstract and conceptual art practices. He is best known for his minimal abstract geometric paintings, sculptures, and prints. His work symbolically examines language, emphasizing repetition and referencing historical art precedents.

Magee earned an MFA from Pratt Institute and a BA in Art History from Trinity University. He was awarded two resident fellowships at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation (in 2007 and 2015), received a New York State Foundation for the Arts Grant in 2002, and obtained a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 1991. His artworks are part of several collections, including the Tucson Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Phoenix Art Museum, the JP Morgan Chase Collection, and the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University, among many others.
