His prints are held in premier collections, including the Whitney Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eIn 1979, Hale founded and directed the Guest Artist in Printmaking Program. A recipient of research awards and a 1990 Mid-America Arts Alliance\/NEA Fellowship in Painting, he served as Chair of the Department of Art and Art History (1996–2005) and as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Fine Arts.
