David Everett was born in 1950 in Beaumont, Texas, and displayed an interest in the visual arts and the natural world from his earliest years. Drawn along with his brother to the forests, swamps, bayous, and marsh-covered plains of southeast Texas, David developed a lifelong devotion to observing and depicting the region's wildlife. He is known for his meticulous woodcut prints of birds and animals, produced in long-running series, that combine the precision of natural-history illustration with the expressive power of relief printmaking.
